The family will receive friends from 1 until 2:15 p.m. prior to the service at the church in the chapel. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Mary Martha Bible Study Class. Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo, is assisting the family. Mrs. Boggs died Tuesday, June 2, 2015. Born in Macon, Ga., on April 1, 1917, she was married to James A. Boggs. As a supportive military wife, she moved all over the world with her family, while raising two young children. Stops included Japan and Hawaii. Time in between assignments was usually spent in Lanett, Ala. with extended family members. She was a member of St. Andrews Baptist Church, where she attended the Mary Martha Sunday School Class, and was also a member of the Joy Singers and WMU. Surviving are her son, James Boggs (Ann) and daughter, Judith Schmiedeker (Rick) both of Irmo; granddaughter, Lesley Volker (Stuart) of Matthews, N.C.; and three great-grandchildren, Emily, Avery and Joshua. She was known for her beautiful smile and compassion, and her independence. We want to thank the staff of Harborchase of Columbia, where she lived much of the last year of her life, and the caring staff of NHC in Lexington, especially Mary B., Rachel, Tammy and Tiffany who loved her and cared for her in the last months of her life. Memorials may be made to St. Andrews Baptist Church, 230 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29210.
