

Charles J. Erwin, age 66, of Irmo, South Carolina, passed away on December 25, 2024 with his dedicated wife at his side. Born on September 17, 1958, to Mollie J. Erwin, neé, Hobbs and William V. Erwin, Charles was one of five siblings born in the pottery town of East Liverpool, Ohio.
Charles proudly served his country for 20 years in the United States Air Force, retiring with honors in July 1998 with numerous accolades.
After retiring from the military, Charles embarked on a successful career in information technology, contributing his expertise to the Continuum of Care and later to the Office of the Governor. His commitment to excellence and diligence in his work was matched only by his passion for the evolving world of technology.
He built computers and had a fondness for video games. In his later years, he found joy in 3D printing, exploring its creative possibilities with the same enthusiasm he brought to all his endeavors.
Charles was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Cindy Erwin, and a proud father to his four children: Jenna, Dustin, Amanda, and Melissa. His family was his anchor and his greatest joy. He was a man of integrity, kindness, and quiet strength, always uplifting others around him with his quick wit and easy banter.
In addition to his wife and children, Charles is survived by his sister Jane Klumasauskas, brother Bill Erwin, brother Tom Erwin, sister-in-law Cheri Erwin, sister-in-law Della Erwin, son-in-law Christian Miles, daughter-in-law Angie Erwin and grandchildren Katarina and Bernadette Erwin.
Charles’s legacy is one of service, love, and tenacity. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him and in the lives he touched with his generosity, humor, and resolve.
A celebration of Charles’s life will be held Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 4:00 PM at Dunbar Funeral Home - Dutch Fork Chapel, 7600 Woodrow St, Irmo, South Carolina 29063.
