CHAPIN - Dorothy Quinn Kirby Allee, 97, passed away peacefully at AnMed Health Medical Center in Anderson, S.C., on Friday, December 4, 2020. Affectionately known as “My Dot” by family and friends, she was a friend to all and only saw the best in everyone. She had a genuinely beautiful heart, as evident by the many friends she made, in every place she touched. She will be remembered by her family and all who loved her as a beautiful lady with a twinkle in her eyes, who loved hard, played hard, and fought hard.
Dot’s joy was in music and in singing in the church choir, “Misfits” group, and with the Chapin Chirpers. She loved playing the piano and her harmonica. Dot was devoted to her family, her Farley family, and her wonderful diverse group of friends, including Susan and Johnny Sellers. She possessed a sharp wit, a passion for learning, and a deep generosity.
Dot had a life of service, of travel, of laughter, and she loved her Lord, her family and friends, and her little piece of “heaven on earth”, her home in Chapin. She had an unquenchable spirit and was heard to say the following just a few days before she passed away: “Circumstances may seem hard right now, but you will see that after all this is over, everything will turn out better than ever.”
She is survived by her children, Jim and Paula Kirby of Pendleton, S.C., Emily Kirby (deceased), and Gay Gingrich of Johnson City, TN; grandchildren, Elle Wiggins Bostick of Estill, S.C., Josh and Ashley Kay of Lyman, S.C., Mollie and Silas Tolan of Johnson City, TN, Jesse Gingrich of Asheville, N.C., and Norie Gingrich of Johnson City, TN; ten great- grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and by her dear Charlie Farley family.
Visitation with the family will be held 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel in Irmo, S.C., with graveside service following at 1:30 p.m. in Chapin United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family has requested that memorials be made to Chapin United Methodist Church, PO Box 237, Chapin, SC 29036.
