Fanny Lugenia “Geni” Pedersen

Fanny Lugenia “Geni” Pedersen, 68, loving wife and mother, was called to be with the Lord on February 4, 2025 after a short illness. Geni was the daughter of the late William Clarence Coogler and Frances Grace Lybrand Coogler. Geni was born in Columbia, SC and grew up in Irmo. She attended school in the Irmo area and graduated from Irmo High School in 1974. She had a great interest in fashion and attended Columbia Commercial College, attaining a degree in fashion merchandising. In 1973 she met Peter Michael Pedersen, whom she married in 1976. Geni and Peter had three children Peter Mathias (Matt), Melissa Nicole (Missi) and Harold William (Hal), whom they raised in Irmo. Geni worked in retail for a period and then transitioned to the banking industry at Banker’s Trust, NCNB, NationsBank, and Bank of America. She later retired from Ascendum Construction Equipment. After retirement, Geni took on the role of full time GiGi, keeping her youngest granddaughter Piper. She was a skilled gardener, talented artist and could often be found at the field coaching or acting as team mom. She loved attending sporting events for her grandchildren and enjoyed planning family vacations. Geni was a member of Second Chance Church.

Geni was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Samuel David Coogler.

Geni is survived by her husband, Peter Michael Pedersen, her sons, Peter Mathias Pedersen (Mikita), Harold William Pedersen (Angel), and daughter Melissa Nicole Mahar (Joey), granddaughters, Macey Grace Pedersen-Rodgers, Piper Nicole Rodgers and grandson Monroe Paul Pedersen. She is also survived by her brothers, William Coogler (Jane), Joseph Coogler (Kay) and Lucius Coogler (Eileen) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Geni was a selfless woman who brought joy to everyone that crossed her path. She will be sorely missed by all that knew and loved her.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, February 23rd at The Ole Oak Barn, 1155 Holy Trinity Church Rd, Little Mountain, SC 29075.
