Glen was born and raised in Castlegar, BC, Canada. He worked his way through college at Simon Fraser University, earning a degree in Business, and later achieved his CMA while working full-time. Glen had a successful finance career in Canada and in the US, where he shared his passion for mentoring and teaching.
Glen fell in love with Melissa in Vancouver and followed her to South Carolina where they married in 2001 and together raised their bright and beautiful daughters. His family flourished in his love and commitment to their genuine happiness, security, and well-being.
Glen loved to travel, particularly to the mountains, and was always organizing a weekend getaway or angling for a lovely hotel or restaurant experience . . . despite being a professional procrastinator. Glen appreciated the arts - live theatre and the movies – and looked forward to the Oscars every year. He took pleasure in helping Marguerite and Cecilia with their math homework and delighted in playing cards, board games, and video games with them – always keeping us all laughing with his dry, corny sense of humor. The holidays were always special to Glen. Christmas lights and Halloween regalia were a hallmark of Glen’s yard. He awarded king-sized candy bars to children with the best Halloween costumes and created the most EPIC holiday scavenger hunts. But Glen also valued toasting his friends and family with a vodka tonic or a good beer, savored a relaxing cuppa tea, and always looked forward to brunch.
He was a faithful friend, brother, son, and uncle; a wonderful and patient husband; and an exceptional and understanding father. Glen was generous with his love, kindness, compassion, knowledge, and talents. We were indeed blessed to walk life’s road, even briefly, with Glen. Glen will always be remembered as a genuine and generous person who exuded strength in his equanimity and inner peace. He will always be present deep in our hearts... that he may always accompany us.
Glen is survived by his wife, Melissa; daughters, Marguerite and Cecilia; mother, Marie Wilson; sister, Karen Coté (Jon Wilsgard); nephew, Brandon; niece, Trinda; mother-in-law, Susan Lewis; father-in-law, Joseph Lewis; brother-in-law, Trapp Lewis; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Lloyd Wilson.
We extend our sincere appreciation to the outstanding medical staff of the Cardiac ICU at MUSC in Columbia, South Carolina, for their compassionate, loving care in Glen’s final days.
A private celebration of Glen’s life will be held at a later date.
