

COLUMBIA - A funeral service for Guy Allen Thrailkill, 96, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, with burial in Bush River Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Mr. Thrailkill passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2017. Born on June 29, 1921 in Columbia, he was a son of the late Jake Clarence Thrailkill and Annie Mae Stewart Thrailkill. Guy served in the United States Navy for nine years during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was selected to take the “Honor Flight” to Washington D.C. to see the WWII Memorial. After serving in the Navy, he owned and operated B&T Offset Printers. Guy was a self-taught harmonica and guitar player, and loved to entertain people with his music. He was also a member of Greene Street United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Leola “Lee” Thrailkill of Columbia; son, Ronnie Thrailkill (Patricia) of Chapin; daughters, Cornelia Beck (George) of Summerfield, N.C., Melissa Cook (Don) of Goose Creek, and Sandra Cox of Moncks Corner; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Elizabeth Hite Thrailkill; brothers, Roy Thrailkill and J.C. Thrailkill; and sisters, Floy Hoots and Mae Heise.
