James “Jimmy” Christopher Bellios passed away on August 21, 2025, at the age of 44. Though his time with us was far too short, he left behind a legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty. Jimmy had a kind heart, a sharp wit, and a way of letting you know where you stood in a refreshing manner.
Born on May 12, 1981, Jimmy was a lifelong fan of the University of South Carolina. He loved cheering on the Gamecocks — whether it was football Saturdays or women & men’s basketball season — and was just as passionate about Carolina Panthers football. He never missed a good WWE match and found joy in the energy and excitement of it all. Jimmy also was a video game enthusiast and eagerly awaited the release of a new game. He lived life with enthusiasm and shared that joy freely with those he loved.
He was also a devoted dog lover, especially of his beloved dog, Gatwick. His gentle spirit and compassion made him a natural friend to animals, and Gatwick held a special place in his heart.
Jimmy is survived by his loving mother, Chrissie Bellios; his sister, Kathy Bellios Richter (Terry); his Aunt Mary Bellios; Uncle Louie Bellios; and Aunt Jewel Bellios. He is also survived by his extended second “family” Johnny & Margaret Austin, Jason Austin, and Melissa and Ari Bowman. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jimmy and Katina Bellios, and Harold and Helen Kirkman and dog Gatwick.
He will be remembered always by his family and friends for his loyalty, laughter, and the comfort he brought simply by being himself.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Dunbar Funeral Home – Dutch Fork Chapel, 7600 Woodrow Street, Irmo, SC 29063.
A prayer service will follow at 11:30 AM.
Following the service, all are welcome to attend a lunch and celebration of life at Zorba’s, 6169 St. Andrews Road, Columbia, SC — a time to share stories, honor Jimmy’s memory, and celebrate the life of someone who meant so much to so many.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a local animal shelter, or to the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.
Rest in peace, Jimmy. You are deeply loved, and will never be forgotten. Here’s to the most amazing Gamecock season for you! Go Cocks!
