Jesse Bryant "J.B." Roddey III

Memorial service for Jesse Bryant “J.B.” Roddey III, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Roddey passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2014. Born in Columbia, he was the son of the late Jesse Bryant Roddey, Jr. and Mary Frances Shell Roddey. During his teenage years and early twenties, he was employed by Roddey Guernsey Farm and was a Drag Car Racer with Shade Tree Racing Team, where he won numerous trophies and awards. J.B. was an owner of Roddey Motor Company, Buick Dealership; Pampered Pets Pet Shop; Oaknoll Zoo, Gift Shop and Greenhouse; and Roddey Carpet Cleaning Service. He completed his career at Home Depot in the Hardware Service Department. J.B. was a member of Riverland Hills Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Frances Strickland Roddey; daughters, Donna Roddey Chevalier, Mary Anne Hood, Heather Renee Kobus (Tim); grandchildren, Mickey Wall (Ashlyn), Bryant Wall (Kristina), Kristin Parrish, Nikki Hood, Jacob, Dylan and Natalie Kobus. He is also survived by step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Elizabeth “Betsy” Roddey.
