John Edward Lundvall, 56, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at home in Lexington, SC. He was born August 27, 1968, in Anaheim, CA to the late Teresa D. (Benavidez) and Richard G. Lundvall.
John graduated from high school in 1986 and immediately joined the US Army. During his four years of active duty he spent two years in Germany and two years at Fort Knox. While stationed at Fort Knox he met the love of his life, Kathy. He would continue his military service with the South Carolina National Guard and the US Army Reserves, retiring with the rank of Captain.
John moved to South Carolina in 1991 and continued his education, receiving a BS in biology in 1995, and a BS in nursing in 2009, both from the University of South Carolina. He also received an AS in computer technology in 2002 from Midlands Technical Institute, and a Master of Science in Nursing in 2014 from Grand Canyon University, all of which enabled him to rise to the position of Senior Integration Engineer for the Lexington Medical Center.
A devoted husband, John spent his entire adult life married to his beloved wife, Kathy, building a life filled with unwavering commitment and cherished memories. They shared their love of travel, spirituality and the Catholic Church, being long-standing members of the Basilica of St. Peter. Together, they ventured to Ireland, Germany, Portugal, Croatia, Malta, and many, many professional baseball games. Some of John’s favorite memories were attending Dallas Cowboy football games with Kathy and his brother Ron. They enjoyed being around family and friends sharing their love with all that came to know them.
John’s beautiful smile and affable personality made him a friend to everyone he met. And through his work with Lexington Medical Center, his dedication to the Church, and his dear love of family and his many friends, John brought light and love to all he encountered.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy, brother Ron (Valarie), several brothers- and sisters-in law, many extended family members, and nieces and nephews from both families who love him and will miss him deeply.
