

Karen F. Zion, born on May 11, 1947, in Detroit, Michigan, was the beloved daughter of Caroline and Christopher Andrews. She graduated from Jefferson High School and attended Henry Ford Community College. Karen retired from Detroit Edison in Detroit, Michigan in 2015 after many years as a dedicated and hardworking employee.
Karen loved life’s simple joys visiting casinos, spending time on the beaches of South Carolina, and enjoying the beauty of Michigan’s Great Lakes. She found great happiness in holiday baking for her family and especially loved making her mother’s cherished Polish recipes.
Known for her strong spirit and unwavering determination, Karen faced every challenge with courage and grace. Throughout her journey, she demonstrated incredible strength and perseverance. Her stubbornness, as her family lovingly recalls, became her greatest source of resilience. Karen’s valiant fight with cancer ended on Saturday, October 18, 2025.
Karen is survived by her four children, three sons, Curtis (Shellie) DuVall, Gary (Bethany) DuVall, and Jimmy Zion, and one daughter, Karla (Todd) Gifford. She also leaves behind her brother, Robert Andrews, and her beloved dog, Reggie; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She will also be lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister and brother.
