Had Mr. Geliske this year for sports history, he knew ALOT about sports, you could ask him pretty much anything about any sport and he could tell you and he had very strong opinions about certain sports aspects. I had Mrs, Geliske in 6th grade, my condolences to the Geliske family.

I’ve just been made aware of the passing of Karl.  What a wonderful, kind and compassionate man.  I’ve been retired for eight years but I was very fond of Karl and his many kindnesses to so many at Dutch Fork High. God Bless his family and always know he will be your guiding light.  Another precious angel is now soaring the beautiful heavens.  ♥️

In my senior year of high school I needed a class to fill in. I decided to choose sports history. Little did I know, this class would’ve been my favorite class at Dutch fork high school and it’s not even a competition. Mr. Geliske was my favorite teacher hands down. He knew me because I place football with his son the year prior, and also that is as a ravens fan just like his son. He straight up told the class this wasn’t gonna be a “just primarily football” class. In my head I’m thinking, “this might suck once it gets to baseball and hockey,” not because I thought negatively of those sports, but because I was ignorant of them both. I thought his class wouldnt get good till we got to football and I could never have been so wrong. I could tell in his eyes that 1, he loved talking about sports, not just football, but all sports. And 2, that he made it his point to show us that there are more than just football and basketball. I remember him telling me, as he knew I would sleep during classes, I’ll let you sleep but only after we get thru the lessons. What more could I ask for? As a person who would stay up late and wake up early, staying awake 7 hours of school wasn’t easy. Granted I did it to myself, but it still happened. I honestly thought he was a cool teacher after that, but it didn’t stop there. He was an amazing TEACHER. Because he had class work that would make us learn the ins and outs of the sports before he chose to quiz us on them. He knew we didn’t know much about sports like tennis or soccer so he would teach us the the rules first. He would also show us throwback players who started the sport off or even controversial events. He always kept it interesting. The best part about Mr. Geliske is that he would have small debates on sports topics. His class was something that even non sports fans would’ve found interesting because it wasn’t a meathead class. I can’t make the funeral, but I will always appreciate him. Wishing the Geliske family the best, Dakota

Mr.Geliske, to know you is to truly love you! You made an everlasting impact on my life. You showed tough love but very caring and wanted each of us to succeed and go far in life, thank you for all the laughs and talks through the hallways and History class "Holmes" got it right "Mr.G" rest peacefully 🥹❤️

Had Mr. Geliske My freshman and sophomore years at Dutch Fork High, was an amazing teacher! He was so funny, taught us about the REAL world not just what the text books showed us. Definitely an inspiration and awesome father figure for a lot of us. He will be missed deeply. My condolences to the family, I pray you all find peace and serenity in this difficult time. 🤍❤️‍🩹

He thought me and showed me at a young age how to be a very intelligent person and show everyone the same respect if it was a fist bump when he seen u in the hallways walking to his one on one talks with people he was a truly genuine and amazing person will never forget him I hope his family and all his love ones

I’m so sorry for your loss Geliske family. When I first met Mr. Geliske I was very shy and he had such a bright and bold personality when teaching. He pushed me to jump outside my comfort zone, you could always see the love he had for the students he taught. I had a complicated home life and every-time I had his class, he would make me laugh and actually enjoy coming to class. I admired how even battling a hard thing, he still gave glory to God. It was an honor knowing him for the time I had in his class and being his student.

Karl was a fun & kindhearted man! I appreciate that he was intentional about connecting with me & my family at church- especially to talk about soccer, which my boys were involved in. Praying for your family as you grieve & asking God to comfort you!

So sorry for the lost. He was my teacher from 9-11 grade years he was the best teacher   He will be missed rest in peace we miss you and love you you did it watch over over all of us

Sorry to hear about his  passing  I worked  with 
 him at Dutch Fork High.  He also taught my daughter and  I also taught his son.   My daughter often spoke about  how he would encourage her to do well. Praying for strength for you all.

Karl was always a man I admired and enjoyed knowing over many decades both in and out of Dutch Fork. He was passionate and caring about teaching and gave freely and unselfishly to me and so many others. I will always cherish those deep chats at lunch and the many  late nights of cards he hosted often, always welcoming those into his home graciously. He embodied many qualities I esteem today including integrity, honesty,  and loyalty; I am glad and blessed I knew him.

Mr Geliske really made a mark as a teacher. He's very inspirational and I'm glad I got to be a student of his throughout high school. Praying for everyone affected, he will be missed dearly.
