Katherine Milhous Byrnes

Katherine Milhous Byrnes of Lexington passed away on September 23, 2025 after a courageous battle against cancer. She was born January 8, 1976 to the late William Riley and Carol Lee Milhous. Katherine was a graduate of Irmo High School and earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Columbia College. She was an employee of Time Warner Cable/Spectrum for many years. Katherine loved music, fashion, traveling, reading, family, friends, and having fun. She was full of joy and encouragement to others.

She is survived by her former spouse, Michael Anthony Byrnes, and their daughter, Abigail Caitlyn Byrnes. She is also survived by her sister, Jennifer Milhous Scott (and family).

A celebration of Katherine’s life will be held on Monday, September 29th at 11:00 am at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel located at 7600 Woodrow St., Irmo, SC 29063 with reception and visitation after the service. Burial will follow at Bush River Memorial Gardens located at 5400 Bush River Rd., Columbia, SC 29212. Guests are invited to wear something purple in honor of Katherine and her fight against pancreatic cancer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (www.pancan.org).
