

Services for Lynette “Lynn” Martin Sawyer, 80, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 23, 2017, at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, with burial in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Saturday at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo. Mrs. Sawyer passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2017.
Born in Saluda, she was the daughter of the late Robert Ansel and Juliette Martin. She was a graduate of Newberry High School and worked as a telephone operator for over 30 years, eventually retiring from Southern Bell. Mrs. Sawyer was a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church. She loved and was loved by all who knew her and had a special love for her late Siberian Husky, Roxy.
Surviving are her daughters, Julia E. Sawyer and Laura S. Truell (Randy); grandchildren, Everett Ansel Bishop, Kimberly Truell, Corey Truell, Curtis Truell, Thomas Truell; brother, Richard Martin; nephew, SC Representative Rick Martin (Fran); nieces, Debra Shealy (Steve), Donna Bowden (Mike); brother-in-law Dean Davenport Sawyer (Karyn); cousins, great nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Dana L. Sawyer and a daughter, Mary Lynn Sawyer.
Mrs. Sawyer had numerous friends and a special love for her Kirkwood Drive sisters, Sylvia Watson, Elaine Ward and the late Penny Durham and Ceily Campbell. Other special friends for whom she cared deeply include Leslie Slaughter, Lynne Mack, Carolyn Russell and Ree Morris.
The family extends a special thank you to Melissa Corley, Latoya Tolen and the entire staff of Compassionate Care Hospice for their loving care shown to our precious mother and our family during this difficult time.
