Mary Rickenbaker Middleton

Funeral Service for Mary Rickenbaker Middleton, 89, will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 170 St. Andrews Road, Columbia, SC 29210. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. at the church. Burial will be held at 3:00 p.m. in St. Mark’s Episcopal Church Cemetery, Pinewood, SC. Viewing will be Wednesday, July 6, 2016 from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo.

Mrs. Middleton went to be with her Lord and Savior, Saturday, July 2, 2016. If you knew Mary Middleton, you knew she was loved by all. Born in Summerton, she was a daughter of the late Mannie Wilson Rickenbaker and Norvelle Briggs Rickenbaker. She was the wife of the late Glynn Ernest Middleton. Mrs. Middleton was a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church and “Kings Daughters’” where she was the leader from 1990 until 2007. She was also a member of the Order of The Daughters of the King. Mrs. Middleton was a Cadet Nurse at Ft. Jackson from 1944 until 1947 and continued as a Registered Nurse until her retirement in 1998.

Surviving are her daughters, Glynda Middleton Marcus (Eric), Elizabeth “Liz” Middleton Marr (Corbin); daughter-in-law, Kay Herrington Middleton; grandchildren, Glynn Alexander Marcus, Carson Middleton Marr, Bonnie Lisa Lindsey (William), Justin Bradley Middleton (Lorena), and Amanda Renee Middleton. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Liam and Bryce Lindsey, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Middleton was preceded in death by her son, Mannie Douglas “Doug” Middleton, and seven siblings.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to St. Mary’s Outreach, c/o St. Mary’s Episcopal Church.
