

Funeral Service for Nell W. Dickert, 101, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 27, 2015 in The New Life Chapel, at The Heritage at Lowman. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior at the Hoefler Gallery, adjacent to the chapel. Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo, is assisting the family.
Mrs. Dickert passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2015. Born in Saluda County, she was a daughter of the late Arthur C. and Edith Etheredge West. Mrs. Dickert grew up in Ascension Lutheran Church where she was very active and a member of youth groups and the choir. She was in the first graduating class of Eau Claire High School and was a graduate of the University of South Carolina. In 1941, she married Rev. James C. Dickert. She supported her husband in Lutheran Churches in Liberty, NC, Clinton, SC, Augusta, Ga, Lancaster, SC, and Ehrhardt, SC. Following his retirement, they moved to the Lowman Home where she was a leader in the Lutheran Church Women, a member of the hand bell choir, chancel choir, occasional organist and reader for the blind. She was also a member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church, Chapin. Mrs. Dickert was an English and Latin teacher while residing in Liberty, NC and Lancaster, SC.
Surviving are her son, Andy Dickert and wife, Peggy; grandchildren, Michael Dickens, Ronald Dickens, Kenneth Dickens, Angela Lopez (Steven); four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Rev. James C. Dickert; brothers, Bernard West, Joseph West, Billy West; and sister, Edith West Jordan.
