
IRMO Robert “Bob” Eugene Emerson, 79, of Irmo, SC, passed away peacefully on the morning of June 19, 2021. Born in Titusville, PA, on January 24, 1942, he was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Pearl Emerson, along with seven older siblings.
He will be dearly missed by his wife of 39 years, Nelda Jeanne Emerson, and children: Angel Emerson Hawthorne and her husband, Kenny, of Buna, TX, John Emerson and his wife, Sarah, of Clarendon, TX, Denise Williams and her husband, Jeff, of Irmo, SC, and Patti Montreuil of Irmo, SC.
Bob’s grandchildren brought such joy to him and he was affectionately known as “Papa/PawPaw.” The grandchildren include Cody Hammers of Buna, TX, Carson Williams of Irmo, SC, Kate Williams of Irmo, SC, Hunter Emerson of Clarendon, TX, and Madden Emerson of Clarendon, TX.
In addition, he is survived by his loving sister, Martha Smrekar of Titusville, PA.
Bob retired as a command sergeant major from the U.S. Army after serving his country for 30 years. He went on to earn an Associates degree in HVAC&R from Midlands Technical College. Bob later retired a second time from the S.C. Department of Corrections.
Services will be held in Fort Jackson National Cemetery on July 20, 2021 at 10 a.m. Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, is assisting the family.
