Sara Wilbanks Davis

Funeral service for Sara “Sallie” Wilbanks Davis, 90, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at St. Mark United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Bush River Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo.

Mrs. Davis passed away Friday, January 20, 2017. Born in Columbia, a daughter of the late Lawrence Freeman Wilbanks and Olean Anderson Wilbanks. She was the wife of the late William Gene Davis. Mrs. Davis was a member of St. Mark UMC. She was also a member of the Columbia Jr. Women’s Club and the St. Andrews Women’s Club.

Mrs. Davis retired from the University of South Carolina following 36 years of service in the athletic ticket department. She is survived by her son, Pastor Lawrence Wilson Davis; daughter, Denise Davis Hayes (Donnie); grandchildren, Clare Hayes Barnes (Will), Davis Hayes, Sarah Davis Fairey (Michael); great-grandchildren, Ada and Ellie Barnes. She is also survived by a special friend, Shirley Wooley. She was preceded in death by her sister, Juanita Dodson.
