Thomas Antley Pitts

Memorial service for Thomas Antley Pitts, 54, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at Lake Murray Presbyterian Church in Chapin. A reception will be held in the fellowship hall immediately following the service. Mr. Pitts died Wednesday, June 10, 2015. Born in Columbia, he was a son of the late Dr. J. William Pitts and Joyce Rahn Pitts.

In addition to living in his family home, Tom was a resident of the Babcock Center at Tweed Court for many years. He was blessed to have two families who loved him very much. His Babcock family included friends Clayton, Casey, Furman and staff members at Tweed Court, as well as all staff and friends at the workshop. As an avid fan of the movie “Wizard of Oz” and singer Michael Jackson, Tom also loved to swim, take trips to the beach, listen to music, dance, sit by the lake and enjoy time spent with his family and with his friends at the Babcock Center.

Surviving are his sisters, Rahn Pitts McCrady (Smyth) of Chapin, Ellen Pitts Morgan (John) of Pinopolis; sister-in-law, Judy Stewart Pitts of Columbia; brother-in-law, Roger Holliday (Cindy) of Alexander City, Alabama; nieces and nephews, Amanda Pitts Bennett (Lee) of Augusta, Bill Pitts III of Charleston, Smyth McCrady, Jr. (Fatima) of Chapin, Elinor McCrady Harris (John) of Chapin, JP Morgan (Jessica), and Hugh Morgan (Rebecca), Oliver Morgan, all of Moncks Corner, Hamilton Holliday (Lauren) of Huntsville, AL, Henry Holliday of Birmingham, AL, and Hayes Holliday of Alexander City, AL.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Anita (Tina) Pitts Holliday and his brother, Dr. J. William Pitts, Jr.

The family wishes to thank Heritage at Lowman, BeWell Home Services, and Lutheran Hospice for their devoted care in both Bethany and Adria.
