Alwina M. "Win" Harper

Of Jackson, passed away February 14, 2012 after a brief illness. She was born April 8, 1925 in Sylvan Twp. MI, the daughter of John N. and Lulu C. (Moeckel) Thelen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter F. Harper; daughter, Stephanie A. Harper; son, Stephen L. Harper and grandson, Bryan H. Harper. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her brothers, William, Henry, Howard, and Walter Thelen. Win is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Walter H. and Mary Harper of Jackson, Jeffrey L. and Connie Harper of East Lansing; grandchildren, Laura Harper Payne of KY, Tyler Harper of VA, Amy Randall of FL; great-grandchildren, Gabrielle and Stephanie Harper, Nicholas Payne and Austin Byers; five nieces, a nephew and cousins. Win was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and was retired from the A&P Food Stores. Funeral Services will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 3637 Spring Arbor Rd. on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 11 AM. Committal Service Saturday 2 PM at Oakwood (East) Cemetery, Grass Lake, MI. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM and at the church Saturday from 10 AM until time of service. Memorial contributions may be directed to Redeemer Lutheran Church or the charity of one’s choice. A special thanks to all the staff at the Summit Park Assisted Living Center for all of the care and encouragement given to Win.
