February 2, 1971 – May 26, 2025
Anthony David Williams, affectionately known as “Peanut” or “Tony,” passed away on May 26, 2025, in his hometown of Jackson, Michigan. Born on February 2, 1971, in Jackson, he lit up this world with his bold spirit, deep loyalty, and unforgettable charm. Peanut was a Southside legend—well-known and well-loved for his big heart, quick wit, and that one-of-a-kind swagger.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Willie Thomas Williams Sr. and Phyllis Marie Williams Sr.; his beautiful niece Adreonia Lynn Vernon-Williams; nephew Dominic Sirbaugh; and great-niece Auvianna Williams. We know he’s up there now, holding it down with them, watching over us with that signature grin.
Tony leaves behind a family he loved with everything he had—brothers Willie Thomas (Constance) Hill of Texas and Richard Lee (Debbie) Williams of Jackson; sisters Pattie Marie Williams, Rosalind Ann Williams, and Lorraine Anntonette Hall, all of Jackson; and his baby sister, Phyllis Marie Williams Jr. of Lansing.
In addition, his stepsons Martell, Anthony and Derrick Watkins; all of Jackson. He helped raise them alongside Vikki (Watkins) Johnson; with whom he shared over 20 years of devotion and partnership. While his journey as a stepfather wasn’t without its challenges, he made heartfelt efforts to reconnect and heal those relationships in adulthood with the boys. In his later years, a new light entered his life; Annette Parker — his dear companion and cherished friend. With her, he found comfort, laughter, and a softness that reminded him that love could bloom again, even in the autumn of life.
Peanut’s life was full of flavor—literally and figuratively. He believed that his BBQ was legendary, and you could always hear him saying, “Can you smell what the P is cooking?”—a phrase that still makes us smile. Whether he was grilling in the backyard, tossing dice or at a slot machine at the casino, or cutting up on the dance floor with his smooth three-step, Tony knew how to bring joy wherever he went. He dressed to impress, laughed loud, and loved hard. He had a smile that could brighten any day, and had a one-of-a-kind way of making you laugh—sometimes even when you didn’t want to.
He adored his family with every fiber of his being and shared a unique, unshakable bond with each of them—one built on laughter, protection, and unconditional love. Tony had a remarkable way of making everyone feel like they were his favorite. His presence was magnetic, his love was constant, and his absence now leaves a space that no one else can ever fill.
To his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, he was more than just “Uncle Peanut”—he strived to be a role model, and a source of constant joy for them. His impact on their lives is unmeasurable, and his legacy lives on in their laughter, their stories, and their strength.
Anthony “Peanut” Williams will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His life was a beautiful blend of loyalty, laughter, and love—and his memory will forever live in our hearts.
Rest Easy, Brother.
We’ll keep the grill hot, the music bumpin’, and your spirit alive in every smile, every story, and every step we take. And until we see you again, we’ll be asking:
