Burt Duane Spafford

Of Jackson, MI, passed away at the age of 90, with family at his side. He was born on March 7th, 1927 in Jackson, MI to parents Percy and Lyle (Tuthill) Spafford. Burt married the love of his life Dorothy Dorn Brigmon in Indiana on December 4, 1954. Burt served his country in World War II and was very proud of his service. He worked as a pipe fitter for 33+ years for Kelsey Hayes Company, was a member of St. Paul's Church, and was an avid collector of many things. Burt was also an avid golfer and on the board at Kelsey Hayes Credit Union for many years. Burt was the best husband, dad, and grandpa in the world. Burt is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy; daughters; Katherine M. (Tim) Huber and Georgia L. Spafford; grandchildren; Angela (Evan) Davis, Timmy Huber, Elizabeth Huber, and Caitlin Huber; great-grandchildren Aiden and Noah; and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Judith Merie Spafford; parents, brother and sister. Per his wishes, cremation has been selected with a memorial visitation. Family will receive friends on Monday, November 20, 2017 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM, with military honors given to Burt at 5:30 P.M., at Chas. J. Burden & Son Funeral Home (1806 E. Michigan Ave., Jackson). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home (2150 Kingsbrooke Dr., Jackson, MI).
