Carl LaVerne Drake

Of Jackson, Michigan passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at the age of 88. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Frances C. "Fran" Drake; six children, Cynthia (John) Swartwood, Karen Drake-Sajdak, Carl "Gene" (Susan) Drake, Leslie (Susan) Drake, Brian (Kathy) Drake and Dennis (Nancy) Drake; thirteen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren and one on the way; sister, Wardena Shortz of Spokane, Washington as well as many nieces, nephews, loving family members and friends. In addition to parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Dennis Dean Drake and two infant siblings. "Bud" was born to Carl and Georgia (Harrell) Drake in Jackson on October 22, 1934 and attended Vandercook schools. Spent his career as a truck driver and member of teamsters 299. He retired after 32 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing; playing the guitar and spending time with family. He adored his grandchildren and even made others feel like his own. He touched the hearts of many and will be greatly missed. According to his wishes, cremation has been chosen and a Celebration of his life will be held at Burden & Patience-Montgomery Funeral Home (1806 E. Michigan Ave. Jackson, 49202) on Friday, June 23, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the Service.
