Donnie C. Kirk

Of Jackson, passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at the age of 87. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Floretta (Preece) Kirk; two children, Barbara (Michael) England and Roger (Vicki) Kirk; five grandchildren, Michael Kevin (Rebecca) England, Kristy (Robert) Cortright, Roger (Erin) Kirk Jr., Tad Kirk and Penni Kirk; four great grandchildren, Madison, Donovan, Abigail, and Jordan; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, loving family members, and friends. In addition to his parents and siblings, he was preceded in death by a son, Larry Clifford Kirk. Donnie was the youngest of five children born in Kermit, WV on August 14, 1927 to Martin and Effie (Brewer) Kirk. After serving in the U.S. Army during WWII he relocated with his wife to Jackson and retired from Goodyear tire and rubber after many years. He also enjoyed a working retirement in Houston, TX. Mr. Kirk was an avid Tiger’s Fan; he was a talented card player and was able to play his hand as well as his partner’s. He was an optimistic thinker with a great attitude and a gentle soul. He touched the hearts of many and will be missed by all that knew him. A service celebrating his life will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at 1:00P.M. The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday evening from 4 to 7P.M. and again on Thursday from 12:00noon until the time of service. He will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Military Honors.
