Our beloved Mother, Grammy, and Great-grandma, Dorothy Bell Beasley, age 90 of Jackson, was picked up by God's angels and taken to heaven on Sunday, September 10 after complications from a severe fall.
She was born in Barlow, Kentucky but spent most of her life in Jackson after her family all moved to Michigan. Her life was devoted to her kids and grandkids. Back in the day, she loved cooking Sunday dinners after church and spending as much time with them as possible. She would can or freeze anything that Dad grew in the garden. It wasn't only us kids, but so many of her brothers and their families reaped the benefits of her hard work.
She retired from Bertha Robinson School as a teacher's aid after 18 years of service. After that, she devoted her time to volunteering in the Lobby Gift Shop at Foote Hospital for many years; it was something that brought her great joy. It was a rare occasion to catch her without working a crossword puzzle. She could answer almost any questions on game shows before the contestants, even with her solitaire game in her hand (or close by at all times).
Dorothy loved her Lord Jesus and was a member of JFM Church. She loved her traditional early service, with the old time hymns. She always had a quick ready smile on her face and everyone thought she was just the sweetest thing. She was loved by many and will be so very missed. Our hearts are broken, but we know that one day we will see her again in heaven.
She is preceded in death by the love of her life Edford Beasley, son Dougie, and her son in law, Larry McFee, along with her ten brothers and sisters: Clarence, Bill, Golda, Freeman, Thomas(T.J.), Samuel, Ewell, Letcher, Mary Eugenia(Jean), and her twin brother Dorr. We like to think God left the best for last.
She is survived by her son Eddie Beasley(Susan), daughter Debbie McFee, grandchildren Terry Beasley(Denise), Jennifer Berry(Keith), and Kaitlin Phelps(Nick). Dorothy also has seven great grandchildren whom she loved and adored: Isaac, Lydia, Simon, Cecelia, Lucas, Joseph, and Ariel. Dorothy (Aunt Dorothy) was also dearly loved and "second momma" to many nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Life services are planned for Thursday, September 28, 2023 at JFM Church, 2829 Park Dr. Jackson, 49203 at 12:00 p.m. with visitation from 11 a.m.-12:00 p.m. before services. Pastors Mark Murphy and Tim Flickinger will be officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to JFM Church.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.ChasJBurden.com for the Beasley family.
