Dorothy Elizabeth Spafford

Of Jackson, Michigan passed away peacefully with family by her side and the help of Henry Ford Hospice on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at the age of 90. Dorothy was born on September 10, 1934, in Ashville, North Carolina to parents Rufse and Catherine Dorn. She married the love of her life Burt D. Spafford on December 4, 1954, in Brigmon, Indiana and they were married until his death 63 years later. Dorothy began her career working as an operator at Bell Telephone around 1953. She then worked as the assistant manager at Jackson City County Credit Union, retiring from the credit union in 1986. After retiring from the credit union, she worked as a cashier at Gilbert’s Chocolates, Lounge Drugs and Polly’s Country Market. Dorothy loved being with her family and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew her. Dorothy is survived by her daughter Katherine M. (Timothy O.) Huber; grandchildren, Angela (Evan) Davis, Timothy C. Huber, Elizabeth K. Huber and Catlin M. Huber; great-grandchildren Noah Davis, Aiden M. Thompson and Anthony J. Samons; and host of nieces and nephews. Dorothy is preceded by her parents, husband Burt D. Spafford, and daughters Judy M. Spafford and Georgia L. Spafford as well as all of her siblings. The family will be having a committal to celebrate the lives of Burt D. Spafford, Dorothy E. Spafford, and Georgia L. Spafford on Friday, July 11, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Maxon Cemetery (4862 Seymour Road, Jackson, MI 49201) with The Reverend Jadon D. Hartsuff officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cascades Humane Society (1515 Carmen Drive, Jackson, MI 49202).
