Of Jackson, passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at the age of 94. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Richard Maxson, as well as her son, Matthew Maxson and daughter, Sandra Ashley. She is survived by her children, Gordon (Kathy) Smith, Jacqueline (James) Folks and Deborah Elliott; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Larry (Cindy) Fisher and Philip Fisher along with many nieces, nephews, loving family members and friends. Eleanor was born at her parent’s home on May 12, 1929 in Charlotte, Michigan to Fay and Zella (Nelson) Fisher. She married Richard Maxson on November 7, 1961 and they raised a family together. They had been married for over 50 years before he passed away in 2012. She was a proud, hardworking homemaker who loved to have a good time. She had many hobbies: reading, sewing, crocheting, singing, dancing, euchre and rummy and Mexican Train dominoes. Many of these hobbies, she bonded with her friends and family over, so she could have fun wherever she went. Each morning she would watch the birds while she drank her fresh decaf coffee with cream and read the paper. Eleanor was the family's glue, keeping us together and in line. We were blessed to have her, there could never be another. We love you always.
The family would like to thank the Henry Ford Jackson Hospice House for the care they provided in her final days, and Missy K and Bri, of Henry Ford Jackson Hospital Home Care for the care they provided over the past few months. A Funeral Service will be held at Burden & Patience-Montgomery Funeral Home (1806 E. Michigan Ave. Jackson, 49202) on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. and again one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Mrs. Maxson will be laid to rest beside her husband and son at Chapel Cemetery.
