Dr. Eugene Crump, M.D. peacefully passed away on December 27, 2014 in Jackson, MI. Prior to his relocation to Michigan, Dr. Crump resided in Severna Park, MD for 38 years. He was born October 20, 1929 to the parents of Horace W. Crump, Sr. and Elsie Allen Crump in St. Joseph, Louisiana. After completing his secondary education, Dr. Crump left the segregated South, with no means of support and only his faith in God, to pursue his dream to become a medical doctor. He attended Tennessee State University and obtained his bachelor’s degree and later attended the University of Connecticut. Finally, after much perseverance and tenacity, overcoming financial and racial struggles, Dr. Crump graduated from Howard University Medical School (Class of 1963) and became a board certified physician in 1966. While attending Howard University, he met the love of his life-the sweet and loving Pearl D. Thomas Crump. She was from Jamaica and earned her Master’s Degree from Howard University where she was also a professor of zoology. They wed in holy matrimony in August of 1961 and resided in Washington D.C. prior to moving Maryland. From this union, three sons were born. Dr. Crump was a strong and loving man who cared deeply for his entire family. He leaves to cherish his memory, his sons, Eugene E. Crump and Adrian Keith Crump of Severna Park, MD and Gregory (Kimberly) Crump of Jackson, MI; three grandchildren, Alisha Crump, and Gregory and Gordon Crump. In addition, six sisters: Rosena Crump Bowman of Grambling, LA, Annie Crump Alexander of San Jose, CA, Lois Crump Holmes of New Orleans, LA, Kizzy Crump Walker of Los Angeles, CA, Dorothy Crump of New Orleans, LA, and Margaret Lilly of Clarksville, TN; two brothers, Johnny Crump of St. Joseph, LA and Frank Crump of Lancaster, CA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Elsie Allen Crump; his wife of nearly 50 years, Pearl Crump; and siblings, Henry Crump, Ethel Crump Earls, Essie Crump Candler, Horace Crump Jr., James Crump, Mary Crump Watson, and Harrison Crump. Condolences and expressions of sympathy can be sent to Patience-Montgomery Funeral Home, 406 First Street, Jackson MI 49201.
