

Of Jackson, MI passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the age of 72 on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, after battling a long illness. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Mary Ann Bartus; children Kerry (Matthew Kaiser) Joyce of Boston, MA, Sarah (Daniel) Michelangelo; two grandchildren, Isabella and Daniel Michelangelo, of Rockland, MA. His twin brother, Paul (Diana) Bartus of Tolland, CT as well as many nieces, nephews, loving family members and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Bethany Lotstein and nephew Edward Majocha. George was born on September 12, 1950 in New Britain, Connecticut to Edward and Anna Mae (Krzynowek) Bartus. After graduating St. Thomas Aquinas High School, he proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served in Vietnam. After his honorable discharge he returned to Connecticut and attended Central Connecticut State University. He spent his career as an electrical engineer and traveled across the country, he retired from The Rolock Corporation after many years of service. In 1998 relocated to Jackson, where he continued his education receiving a Masters in education from Siena Heights. He fulfilled a passion of education by teaching at Jackson College, which had him travel to China several semesters to teach. George loved golfing, reading, and was a lifelong UCONN, Red Sox, and New York Giants fan. A celebration of life will be held Monday August 14, 2023 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm, at the Grotto Club on Washington Ave. Jackson, MI. Military honors at 4:00 pm. Please come, enjoy a bite to eat, and raise a toast of cheers for George.
