James Thompson “Jim” was born on February 19, 1944 in Jackson Michigan to his mother Frances Popelar and his father George Thompson. Jim retired from ADACO Manufacturing in Jackson in 2006. Jim passed away on June 23, 2014, at the Allegiance Hospice in Jackson Michigan surrounded by family and comforted by his wife. Jim fought a hard year -long battle of bladder cancer. Jim never gave up hope right to the end of his battle, he was a true fighter. Jim loved fishing with his long-time buddies George and Norm, he loved to go deer hunting ; he loved bird watching and even built bird houses that he gave to friends and family; he loved to build bicycles and used to have his own business where he built and sold them. He was loved by all his friends and neighbors; he was the first one to offer a helping hand. Jim is survived by his wife, Glina Joyce, son, Michael ( Denise )Thompson, step-daughter; Lori (James) Klinesmith, grandchildren; Tyler , Chris Thompson, Brandan , Mathew Klinesmith, sister, Sharon York , and too many friends to mention by name except his best friend Danny who he referred to as his “brother” and his “always there to help” neighbor Bob. Jim was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Popelar, father, George Thompson, sister, Judy Vanderbosh and stepson, Jeffrey Upton. The family would like to send a special “Thank You” to Allegiance Hospice in Jackson who helped Jim through the final weeks of his life. The caring compassion of all the doctors, nurses, nurses’ aids and volunteers was unbelievable; we will never forget all that they did to make Jim’s descent to heaven a little easier for everyone. A celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at 11:00am at the funeral home, with visitation held on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 from 6:00-8:00pm.
