Jason Lamont Walters

Jason graduated from Jackson High School in 1998 where he attended Jackson Career Center studying culinary. He enjoyed cooking for his family. He loved sports and played recreational basketball. His favorite teams were Michigan State University (football) and Golden State Warriors (basketball).

Jason was a member of Noah’s Ark Apostolic Church under the leadership of his father, Bishop Oscar P. Walters, where he was baptized at an early age and a member of the choir. His favorite song was “Yes! I’m A Believer”.

Jason was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ruth Thompson & George Gillison, Irene Brown & Willie Brown; great grandparents, Susie & Rufus Walters; uncles, Willie Brown, Jr., John Gillison; aunts, Darlene Gillison, Loretta Terry; cousins, Devin McCain, Monica Brown and Ta’Varis (TJ) Brown.

Jason leaves to cherish his memory his parents, Bishop Oscar P. and Willie L. Walters; sisters, Angela Walters-Cain, Crystal Walters-Wallace; brothers, Oscar Terry Walters, Donald Lee Walters; special brother-in-laws, Ronald Cain and Andre Wallace; sister-in-laws, Sara Walters and Laura Anthony; nine nephews; nine nieces; twenty-five great nephews; twenty-six great nieces and one great-great nephew; aunts, Alice Harris, Helen Boxley, Mary Brown, Roszetta Harper, Vivian Brown, Sarah Beckwith, Deborah Gillison, Brenda Gillison; special aunties, Mother Mattie Ashe and Ruby (Elder Michael) Duncan; uncles, Elder Arthur (Jackie) Brown, Elder Robert (TerriKay) Brown, Bishop Michael (Pam) Brown and Raymond Gillison; godmother, Frances Johnson; godbrother, Todd “Dutch” Johnson; godsister, Natalie Sheffield-Jordan; special friends of the family: Mother Beverly Doering and Gina Centers; a host of great aunties and uncles as well as cousins, friends, and his Noah’s Ark Apostolic Church family.

Viewing hours will be Friday, November 12, 2021 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Noah’s Ark Apostolic Church located at 345 E. High St., Jackson, MI 49203. Funeral service will be held at Greater Bible Way Temple located at 322 Madison St., Jackson, MI 49202 on Saturday, November 13, 2021 with Family Hour at 10:00 am followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00 am. Burial Woodland Cemetery.
