

Of Jackson, passed away while surrounded by her family and under the care of Henry Ford Allegiance, on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at the age of 82. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, John W. Schilling. Joanne is survived by her children, Dawn Dwyer, Linda (Marty) Craddock, Bob (Marilyn), Steven, John (Doris), David (Vickie), and James Schilling; fifteen grandchildren and many more great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, loving family members, and friends. She was born in Jackson on November 8, 1934 and was raised by Mary Konopacki (Barchinski). After graduating from high school she went on to receive a degree from Jackson Community College. She started working with the John George Hall, the Hope House, and volunteering. Joanne then relocated to Flint, Michigan, where she spent her career teaching and assisting disabled children and adults with special needs and retired from Genesee County Community Health. She touched the hearts and lives of many and will be greatly missed. According to her wishes, cremation has been chosen and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Catholic Church on Friday, October 13, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation at Chas. J. Burden & Son Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Followed by a Rosary Service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Catholic Charities, St Mary’s Food Pantry or Linen Closet.
