

Master Sergeant (Ret) John Patrick Stuart Sr. (75) of Jackson, MI passed away on Sunday January 7, 2024. John was born October 2, 1948. He is survived by his two children John (Jenny) Stuart Jr. and Roberta (Richard) Bennett, and his seven grandchildren Gabrielle (Kirk) Kostrzewski, Tabitha (Tyler) Stricklin, Cady (Ian) Tucker, Chantal Bennett, Cassandra Bennett, Star Clewis, and Angel Clewis. He is preceded in death by his great grandson, John Luke Stricklin. He is survived by siblings Jane (Emerson) Clemons, Joan Griffus, Bradley (LaDonna) Stuart, as well as several brothers-and-sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Robert (Les) and Estella Stuart, he is also preceded in death by his sisters Evelyn Truitt, Marian Gattshall, Carol Goode, Sharon Buckland, and and his brothers Robert and William Stuart. John graduated from high school in Jackson, MI in 1966. In 1970, John joined the United States Marine Corps. He was a talented helicopter mechanic and Maintenance Chief. During his 24 years of service, he travelled to 37 different countries and all 50 states. John was proud of his military service and credited the Marine Corps for some of the best years of his life. After retiring in 1994, John began his second career at Pilot Industries, where he also later retired. He valued his relationships with the Lord, his family, and his closest friends. He loved westerns, warm weather, desserts, Camel non-filters, sangria, playing cards, scratch-off lotto tickets, and his Pomeranians. He would have been proud to know that the Detroit Lions are the NFC North Champions this season. He was loved by all who knew him and will be missed dearly. According to his wishes, John will be cremated and a memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at Burden & Patience-Montgomery Funeral home (1806 E. Michigan Ave. Jackson, 49202).
