John LeRoy Vandenburgh

Of Jackson, Michigan passed away on April 22, 2025, at the age of 83. John was born in Jackson, Michigan on May 18, 1941, to parents Hiram and Mary Vandenburgh. He was married to his wife Carole Vandenburgh for 63 years. John was a member of Lansing Avenue Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, youth group leader, and Sunday school teacher. He worked as a machinist at Melling Tool Company for many years. John loved woodworking, auto repair, reading, and especially loved helping others. John is survived by his wife Carole; children John A. Vandenburgh, Sonia (Bryan) Ireland, and April (Eric) Hubbell; grandchildren Sean Vandenburgh, Melanie Schmall, Catlin Ireland, Noah Hubbell, and Abigail Hubbell; and brother Myron Vandenburgh. He is preceded in death by his parents Hiram and Mary Vandenburgh; siblings Georgia Gardner, Richard Vandenburgh, Donald Vandenburgh, Gordon Vandenburgh, Marilyn Johnson, Bonnie Vandenburgh, Rose Green, and Robert Vandenburgh. A celebration of John's life will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Burden & Patience-Montgomery Funeral Home (1806 East Michigan Avenue, Jackson, MI) with Pastor Steve Sebring officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at Burden & Patience-Montgomery Funeral Home from 12:00 PM until time of service. He will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lansing Avenue Baptist Church (4000 Lansing Ave., Jackson, MI 49202).
