Of Jackson, passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2012 at the age of 81. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Stephen Szymczyk and a brother, Kenny Myers. She is survived by her daughters, Debra (Doug) Phelps and Deborah Barnette; grandchildren, Ron (Geri) Phelps, Jim Phelps, Hersie (Devon) Beaton, Stephen (Hope) Barnette, Jenn ( Matt) Dale; six great grandchildren; sister, Marilyn Downey; brothers, Jack (Janet) Myers and Bob Myers as well as nieces and nephews. Joyce was born to Roy Myers and Alice Palmer in Jackson; she graduated from Jackson High School and enjoyed an active life. She retired from Comerica Bank and was proud of her knitting and ceramic crafts and appreciated her shopping trips with her niece, Connie. According to her wishes cremation has been chosen and inurnment next to her husband will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Park on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in her honor may be made to the Disabled American Veterans or to the Salvation Army.
