Larry L. Richardson

Of Rives Junction passed away Wednesday June 13, 2012 age 81. Larry was a lifelong Farmer and resident of Tompkins Township. He was a past member of the Jackson area JC’s, served as a Board Member of the Leslie Bank, past president of the Leslie School Board and in 1967 he and his wife, Marilyn were chosen Outstanding Young Dairy Couple by MMPA. In 1969 Larry was chosen to participate in a world tour with the Kellogg Farmer’s program of MSU to broaden the knowledge and understanding of agriculture worldwide. As a young man Larry excelled at basketball, baseball, football and track and was later inducted into the Leslie Blackhawk Athletic Hall of Fame. He graduated from Leslie High School and attended Michigan State University and was a Michigan State fan all his life. Larry enjoyed his family and many trips out west skiing with his grandsons. He will be dearly missed. Larry was preceded in death by his beloved wife Marilyn, son in law Dale Rogers and his faithful dog Duke. Larry is survived by his daughter JoAnna Rogers of Rives Junction, one sister Barbara J. Wellman of Holt, two grandsons Matt and Derick Rogers and three great grandchildren, four nieces and one nephew. Per his wishes cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
