

LeeDora Sims Joplin was born on August 5, 1947 in Jackson, Michigan to the union of Lee Earl and Eldora Sims. She died at her home on Monday, February 28, 2022. LeeDora was known for her smile, and led a very active life up until her illness. She was a member of Lily Missionary Baptist Church, and attended Community AME Church for many years. She enjoyed her morning coffee, listening to scripture, going to the gym, traveling especially oceans and was a Michigan State University fan. She loved watching old westerns, classic movies and Gun Smoke. She worked at Goodyear Tire & Rubber until they left Jackson in 1984, then went on to work at and retire from Eaton Corporation and JC Penney. LeeDora graduated from Parkside High School in 1965, was a part of the Parkside/Jackson High Schools Reunion Committee, the Aeroquip Credit Union Nominating Committee, Bowl For Kids Sake, and YMCA. LeeDora was preceded in death by her parents Lee Earl and Eldora Sims, son Robert Sims, brother Michael Sims, and half-sisters Lillian Pope, Christine Davis and Elizabeth Sims. She leaves to cherish her memory a very devoted and loving son Rodney, son Craig, caring nephew Carvis Pope and wife Patricia (and families) and a host of relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers make any donations to Lily Missionary Baptist Church, Church of God, and/or YMCA of Jackson Michigan.
