Michelle Suzette Marquardt

Her Legacy …. Michelle Suzette Marquardt, Age 46, passed way in Shizuoka City, Japan on January 12, 2016. Michelle was born in Jackson, Michigan, June 5, 1969. She received a BA from Michigan State University and pursued further studies at University of Michigan, at the School of Music and School of Education receiving a Teaching Certificate. After completing her degrees, Michelle traveled to Shizuoka City, Japan where she lived for 16 years. She taught English to multiple age children in Japanese elementary schools and also conducted several English speaking group evening classes for adults. Most recently, Michelle was a founding teacher at NB International Kindergarten. Her love of children was an asset for her and she became a much beloved teacher in the classroom. Her memory will also be cherished for her love and joy and sharing of her creative talents in vocal music in the Japanese community, where she performed with several musical ensembles.

Her Family …. Michelle is survived by her mother, Carole Lee Marquardt and her father, Victor Marquardt, her brother, Charles Marquardt, her sister, Victoria Krause and step-mother, Shirley Fair-Marquardt, step-brothers, Clifford and Todd Fair, step sisters, Lisa Tyrl (Ron) and Victoria Bork (Todd) and step-nieces and nephews. Also to be remembered are many dear Japanese friends who became her family and support as she lived in Shizuoka City, Japan. Michelle was loved by many, and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Her Farewell …. A celebration of Michelle’s life will be held Saturday, February 20, 2016, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1505 West Michigan Avenue, Jackson, Michigan at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends for visitation from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. A luncheon and sharing of memories will follow the celebration service.
