

Of Jackson, Michigan, passed away on April 5, 2012 at the age of 87. She was born on August 10, 1924 in Wallsend, Kentucky to Walter and Nancy Pearl Wilson Ellis. She was a retiree of ITT Hancock and was an Avon Lady for over 40 years. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, neighbor and friend. Mildred loved to celebrate any holidays, and birthdays, especially those of her grandchildren. She was a great cook, teacher, gardener who made her house a loving home. Though suffering from Rheumatoid Arthritis most of her life, her joy and legacy was in always helping others in need. Mildred is survived by her children, Sheila Owens, of Jackson, MI, Maxine (Bob) Richardson, of California; stepchildren, David and Glenn Stephens, Pamela Ray, siblings; Goldie Head, of Crown Point, IN, Avis Partin, of Chenoa, KY, brothers and sisters -in-law; Deloris Stephens, Jo Thornbury, Gwen Igoe, Betty and Emma Stephens, Alec and Bud Stephens, Isam Hamlin and numerous grandchildren, great children and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Grover Stephens, in 2004; son and daughter – in-law, Jess and Robin Hamlin; daughter, Janet Collier; Stepsons, Jerry Greg Stephens, two brothers, three sisters and grandson; Brett Hamlin. Per her wishes burial has taken place. A celebration of her life will take place at Steaks Eatery (4243 Oak Lake, Jackson, MI) on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to charity of one’s choice.
