

Passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2012 at the age of 76. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Ray and Ethel Griffin; sisters, Barbara Stewart and Delores Cotton. Ray leaves to cherish his memory, brothers, Dale (Jeanette) Griffin of North Carolina and Lynn Griffin of Jackson, Michigan; daughters, Deborah (Darryl) Freeman and Lisa (Lucian) Anderson of Houston, Texas, Racine (Jerome) Jenkins and Kimberly Griffin of Jackson, Michigan; grandchildren, LaToya and Brandon Anderson of Houston, Texas, Darius and Essence (Lexie) Griffin of Jackson, Michigan; great-grandchildren, Brandon and Khylie Anderson of Houston, Texas and a host of family and friends. He served in the Air Force from 1956 to 1960 during the Korean War. He was the first African-American to earn his journeyman card in the state of Michigan. He was a diligent and dedicated employee with the F P Miller Company for over twenty-five years. He was a perfectionist in everything he set out to accomplish. Ray touched the lives of many. The Griffin family would like to acknowledge all of the thoughts and prayers that have been offered to them during this time. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. Family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until the time of service. Apostle John S. Walker officiating. Interment will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery with military honors on Friday, January 13, 2012 at 1:00 p.m.
