

Age 81, of Jackson, Michigan passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2025. Richard was born November 16, 1943 to Vernon Gale and Ruth Mary (Wideman) Emerick in Three Oaks, Michigan. He married his spouse of 37 years Jeri Lee Emerick on January 2, 1969, and she preceded him in death, as well as his parents, his siblings Dale Emerick, Marjorie Emerick, William Emerick, Donald Emerick, Arlene Mae Emerick and newborn daughter Dorothy Jean Emerick. He is survived by his daughters Samantha (Michael) VanWye and Charlotte (Matthew) Davisson, grandchildren Alexis (Justin Dean) VanWye, Emma Smith, Alivia Dean, Victoria Dean, Devon (Kalie Owen) Vanwye, Austin (Grace) Davisson, Noah Davisson, and Cheyenne (Damion Collins) Davisson. Richard proudly served in the US Marine Corps from 1961 to 1972, earning a Good Conduct Medal Award. After discharge he was called to serve again, this time with the Army National Guard, from 1979 to 1994. Here he eventually became a Staff Sergeant, achieving the Vietnam Service Medal 3 stars, four Army Service Ribbons and the Michigan Service Medal for six years.
In addition to being a proud Marine, was also a model train enthusiast, a DVD movie collector, and a coin collector. Richard will be laid to rest with honors at Fort Custer National Cemetery, 155501 Dickman Rd., Augusta, Michigan, on Monday August 25, 2025 at 10:00 AM. A luncheon will follow the burial at 3625 East South Street, Jackson, Michigan, 49201.
