Roger was born in Tiffin, Ohio, September 27, 1944, to Rodger Burdell and Helen Mae (Harper) DeVaughn.
He was called early on to spend a life in service and spent over 50 years in the ministry. Roger worked for many years as a chaplain at Henry Ford Hospital, as well as serving as a minster at different churches around Michigan. That was truly his calling, and he found great joy reaching people and teaching about the gospel. He also worked as a manager at Meijer for 20 years. Roger loved spending time with his family and watching races. His favorite thing to make was caramel corn, and he loved sharing it with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years Cheryl Ann (Ruth) DeVaughn; children Paula Kay (Bruce) Lenington, Alan Jay (Kimberly Bourdeaux) DeVaughn, and Joy Lynn DeVaughn; 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Susan Kay (DeVaughn) Stephany.
A celebration of life will take place December 27, 2025, 2:00 pm, at Meckley’s Flavor Fruit Farm, 11025 S. Jackson Rd, Cement City, MI 49233.
The family requests any memorial contributions be sent to a missionary of your choice.
