Roy R. Hawkins Sr.

Of Jackson, passed away at the age of 82 on Monday, January 27, 2014. He was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Hawkins; son Gary Hawkins and sister, Laura Hawkins. He is survived by his son, Roy (Sandy) Hawkins Jr. and Jack (Laura) Hawkins; grandchildren, Russell (Janice) Hawkins, Heather Hawkins, Ashley Hawkins and Eric Hawkins; eight great grandchildren; brother Clarence Hawkins as well as nieces, nephews and friends. Mr. Hawkins graduated from Leslie High School. After serving in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict he returned to Jackson and was employed at Fischer Body, then retired as Maintenance Supervisor for S.P.S.M. Even after his retirement he continued employment with Baxter. He was a hardworking man. He touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed. A service honoring his life will be held at the funeral home on Friday, January 31, 2014 at 1:00PM with Chaplin Dave Goldsmith officiating, followed by Military honors. The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday evening from 5 to 7PM and again on Friday from 12:00noon until the time of service. He will be laid to rest next to his wife at Jones cemetery in Rives Township.
