

She is survived by her children Christine (Kenneth) Lawley, Robert (Margie) Welker, Deborah (Donald) Cochran, and Robert (Marguerite) Cochran; eight grandchildren Michelle (Joshua) Rolston, Kaitlynn Lawley, Jonathan (Hannah) Lawley, Vanessia Lawley, Jessica Holbrook, and Billie Welker; nine great grandchildren Elianna, Joshua, Kailey, Alyssa, Jaden, and Makayla Rolston, Hazel Holbrook, Jayce Tomaski, and Westin Trever; two sisters Barbara Borton and Cheryl (Mark) Urban; a host of nieces and nephews; and loving family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband of 46 years Eugene F. Cochran, her cherished son Michael A. Welker, and a brother Richard Borton.
Ruth Ann was born to Noel and Ruth (Reynolds) Borton in Ypsilanti, Michigan on February 20, 1945. After graduating from Ypsilanti High School, her career varied and included bookkeeper at Ulrich's Book Store, MESC, and retired as a dental assistant for Dr. Fred Castenholz. Ruth Ann was an amazing, talented artist, enjoyed doing arts and crafts, gardening and making homemade Christmas ornaments for all of her family members, friends, and even her daughter Christine's Sunday School class. Mama has always had a deep and abiding love for her furry animals. She loved her dog, Frankie that became her companion that held a special place in her heart. She truly loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She was proud of each and every one of her children and adored every grandchild and her great grandchildren that God blessed her with. Ruth Ann enjoyed being light-hearted and having fun that often led to laughter. She was a woman of faith, having a personal relationship with God, attending Sycamore Baptist Church and then her home church became Loomis Park Baptist Church. Ruth Ann will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A service celebrating her life will be held at Loomis Park Baptist Church (2301 N. Elm Ave., Jackson, MI 49201) on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at 11:00 AM with Pastor Rich Zawadzki officiating. The family will receive for visitation at Loomis Park Baptist Church one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Mrs. Cochran will be laid to rest at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association 2111 University Park Dr., Suite 200 Okemos MI 48864) in remembrance of Ruth Ann Cochran as she faced Alzheimer's with incredible courage, strength, and grace.
