Thomas Richard Long

Of Jackson, passed away at the age of 67, while at his home on Sunday morning, September 17, 2017, surrounded by family. He is survived by his wife, Jane; daughters, Valerie (Dan) Hale and Sharmon Long; step-children, Lynnette (James) Marshall, Lance Hawkins and Ryan (Sarah) Wilkinson; several grandchildren, Danielle, Kayla, Devin, Brandii, Justin, Jarreck, Ryleigh, Jason, Autumn, Wesley, Andrew and Connor; great grandchildren, Karlee, Lily Rose, Maximus and Eli. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by and infant son, Richard Thomas Long. Tom was born to Carleton and Belva (Harbaugh) Long in Jackson on January 9, 1950. He retired from DART in June of 2016 after twenty-three years of service. He was also a part-time associate at Elder Beerman. Mr. Long's family would like to acknowledge his medical team for their expertise and compassion, Dr. Paul Heilborn, Dr. Nintin Ambani and Dr. Joann Hirth. Our family appreciates your thoughts and prayers during his illness. According to his wishes cremation has been selected and a memorial service will be held on Monday, October 2, 2017 at First Church of Nazarene, 3950 Clinton Road Jackson, Michigan at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends for visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
