Of Jackson, passed away peacefully at his home August 1, 2014 age 70. Survived by Mary, his loving wife of 49 years; his daughter, Laura (Bill) Watts; three grandchildren, Nicholas Payne, Gabi and Stephanie Harper; one brother, Jeff (Connie) Harper; one brother-in-law, Dudley (Turalee) Barlow; several nieces and nephews, and Max, the wonder dog. Preceded in death by his son Bryan; one brother, Stephen and one sister, Stephanie. Walt became a licensed funeral director in 1966 and worked at Patience-Montgomery and Chas. J. Burden & Son Funeral Homes. He was a long time member of the Men’s Garden Club of Jackson. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. with The Rev. Dr. Douglas W. Vernon officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Men’s Garden Club of Jackson, Ella Sharp Museum or Gilda’s Club of Grand Rapids.
