Of Jackson, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at the age of 82. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Woodruff. He is survived by four daughters, Debbie (Richard) Kent, Amy Carlson, Linda (Dewaine) Baldwin and Lori (Bob) Bishop; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; sister Joyce Ewers as well as nieces, nephews, many friends and his care giver, Thelma Thayer. Woody was born to Harold and Mildred Woodruff in Jackson. He served in the U.S. Army after graduating from Jackson High School. He retired as a corrections officer after 31 years of service and was a grounds keeper at Ella Sharp Park. He enjoyed an active life, classic cars, woodworking and spending time with family and friends. A service honoring his life will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. with Military Honors. The family will receive friends for visitation Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. According to his wishes cremation will follow.
