Bradley Edwin Gilbert, 68, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on May 31, 2023. Brad is survived by his sons, Christopher Bradley Gilbert (Jane T. Davis) and Michael Bradley Gilbert (Bailey C. Holbrooks).
Brad was born on October 1, 1954 to parents Bryan Gilbert and June Rosse in Naples, FL. Brad was predeceased by both of his parents and his sister Charmaine Gilbert.
Brad had an amazing career as a General Contractor and Developer. He founded and owned Gilbert Homes, Inc. in 1989. Gilbert Homes designed and constructed over 200 custom built homes in Queens Harbour Yacht & Country Club alone. Brad designed and built numerous homes in Jacksonville along the ocean and Intracoastal Waterway as well as in Marsh Landing and other prestigious Jacksonville Country club communities. A "Gilbert Home" reflected the standard of excellence that Brad valued.
Brad had a passion for boating, fishing, hunting, traveling, and spending time in the great outdoors. In his free time, he enjoyed supporting his favorite football teams, Florida State University, and the Jacksonville Jaguars since they were established. Most of all, it brought him great joy to spend time with his sons and family. Brad loved Christopher and Michael with all his heart and never missed an opportunity to tell the world how proud he was of them. Likewise, his boys loved him more than life itself. Brad took great pride in everything he did. He was a taskmaster who faced challenges head-on and believed in doing things the right way, the first time. Furthermore, he loved meeting people from all walks of life and sharing stories.
Dad you will always be remembered, forever missed, forever in our hearts. We love you.
A funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 5th at Lee Kirkland Cemetery in Jacksonville Beach. Father Nick of the Greek Orthodox Church will officiate.
