Bruce L. Hibel passed away Thursday, June 20, 2013 after a heroic battle with cancer. He was born in Brooklyn, NY August 14, 1944. He graduated from Englewood High School in 1962 and afterwards attended and graduated from St. Johns Junior College, then receiving his BA from Troy State in Alabama and Master’s in Special Ed from UNF. He served 4 years in the US Air Force. His passion for education was reflected in teaching for over 35 years in Duval County as well as several years in Asheville, NC. He was an avid lover of animals.
Bruce is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 40 years, Fe; daughter, Heather (Chad); granddaughters, Emily and Anna; brother, Paul (Lee) as well as two nephews, Mike and Jeff.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 9th at HARDAGE-GIDDENS FUNERAL HOME, 1701 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville Beach, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Jacksonville Humane Society or Community Hospice of Northeast Florida.
