August 2, 1933 – May 12, 2024
Clyde Aston Jr. was born on August 2, 1933 to Clyde Aston Senior and Austie
R. Aston in their home in Mount Lebanon Pennsylvania. After Clyde was born
his father found a nice little house in Beadling Pennsylvania and told Austie
that they needed to move there, that it was a nice house with running water.
Much to Austie’s surprise the running water was actually a creek that ran
behind the house. But Clyde always said that he grew up in the best place that
anybody could have grown up as a child.
A few years later, Clyde’s parents bought property in Washington, Pennsylvania
where he helped his father build a beautiful two-story home with a basement.
Clyde attended Washington high school in Washington Pennsylvania. Clyde’s
favorite subjects in school were math and physics. He worked at a meat market
on the weekends and worked on cars in his spare time and planned to become
an aviation cadet. He graduated Washington High School in 1951 and went on to college at
Penn State University.
After a short time working as a surveyor, Clyde joined the Army Corps of
Engineers in Jacksonville Florida. During his career with the corps, his
exemplary dedication helped him attain the position of chief of navigation
before he retired after 36 years. In 1994 the Army Corps of Engineers requested
Clyde go to South Florida after hurricane Andrew and assist in evaluating and
coordinating removal of sunken vessels.
Clyde was preceded in death by his daughter Kim White on October 12, 2010.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Nancy Aston, Jacksonville Beach, Florida.

Clyde served as commander for two years. As a member of the American Legion
Clyde was proud to serve in the honor guard for many years. One of the things
that Clyde enjoyed the most as a member of the Legion was heading up the
croaker tournament with his right hand Linda Wiltshire.
Clyde and Nancy were members of the Jax, outboard club and marine posse for
several years. Clyde loved his family, was a dog lover, and he was a patriot. He
loved his country and he flew the beautiful American flag every day with pride.
