What can we say, as a family, about someone like mom. She was 96 years old. And up until her 92nd birthday she was living alone and taking care of herself and all the other “old people” she was taking care of! ( she would be driving someone to the doctor and say, “I’m helping the elderly by taking them to the doctor, or store. I would ask about them and she would respond, “oh, they aren’t doing well, they are 88”. Lol). She was a spitfire, up until her last days. She loved to sew. She loved to play dominoes, bridge, scrabble, and any other board game that anyone wanted to play, adults, or her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
All of us love wrapping up in her quilts! What a treasure they are.
She was a Christian and for the last 2-3 years she was residing at Tallahassee Memory Care. When she arrived, it didn’t take her long to begin to teach all the nurses and CNAs how to play dominoes. She became The Ambassador voted on by everyone that worked there.
She passed away very peacefully Sunday afternoon as she laid down to take her nap, she woke up at the feet of our Lord and Savior and I’m sure she busted the gates open wide and shouted Hallelujah, hallelujah, I am home.
Walter (dad) was probably out in the garden with pepper plants and orange trees telling everybody How to do everything , when he heard her voice!! What a blessed reunion that must have been.
Words cannot express how much you will be missed, but it is just “bye for now”, because we KNOW we will see you again someday.....
